The Piss Stick Was Positive
Jun 28
Last week, my “monthlies” didn’t come as expected but I ignored it since I had just started a new job. After all, stress can delay a period. A week went by, I knew I wasn’t stressed but I figured, “Huh, has happened before and the pregnancy test was negative.”
On Saturday, which was yesterday, I remembered that I hadn’t paid my rent yet. I called around and found out that the closest Shopper’s Drug Mart had a post office in it that was open on weekends. I decided to down and get the money order made, listened to my music while walking along the street. Said Good Morning to a few strangers just because I felt content with the way the day was going.
I reached my destination, purchased my money order and walked by the home pregnancy test aisle. I decided that I should buy one to check if that was why my period was missing. I bought one and went walking home, I walked down the street and got offered a ride by an old man. He made me feel creepy so I declined and kept walking. I walked by the future City Hall building, where I got hit on by the construction workers (How cliche of them, BTW) and continued my journey.
I came into my apartment, locked the door, put the money order into a safe place so that i could deliver it on Monday. I waltzed into the washroom, read the instructions just so I wouldn’t fuck up. Sat down, pissed on the stick, capped the stick, and went to go get my cigarettes. After finding my cigarette and lighter, I came into the bathroom, put the cigarette into my mouth, picked up the test and spit out the cigarette because the test said “Pregnant”
My man wasn’t home and I had no way to reach him but I needed to tell someone. So I called my Grandma, who is legally my mother, and told her the news. She was half asleep but she was WIDE awake pretty quick! After the call, I spent hours waiting for my man to get home from work and when 7PM rolled around, I heard him coming up the steps, and knocking. I unlocked the door and practically assaulted him with the piss stick.
He stared at it for awhile, until he saw that it said Pregnant. After which, he did a lot of babbling, smiling and hugging but not before nearly falling down the stairs.
So yesterday was a hectic day for me, and I imagine that the next 8+ months will be hectic as well.
I don’t imagine that anyone really gives a shit, but its my blog, and I wanted to share the news with people who happen to give a shit.
So now, I have quit smoking, as well as drinking pepsi & coke. They say drinking pepsi&coke is fine if done in moderation but I have no clue what that means.

Magic, I needed a good laugh, wishing you and your partner well with your new baby.
Wow.. Sounds like my worse nightmare.. but for some odd reason i’m jealous. I’m 26, married.. have a house. Everyone asks me when the kiddies are coming. Scary thing is.. I dont like kids.. But i would LOVE to be pregnant. COnsidering being a surrogate, because the act of being pregnant seems like something I would want to experience.. but not the act of being a mom to a little snot nosed 6 year old that talks back because his grandparents spoil the heck out of him..
But congrats, and i am rather jealous!

Congratulations! Get to your doctor and have it confirmed and he can give you all the do and do nots of pregnancy. I gave up drinking, smoking and caffeine immediately when I found out I was preggers (it was not planned). You also need to start on prenatal vitamins so that the baby does not start taking what it needs out of your bones and teeth (calcium). Folic acid helps prevent spina bifida.
Also, you need to make financial arrangements with the doctor. They want you fully paid BEFORE you go into labor. LOL
All the best.

That’s fantastic news, congratulations and good luck
I didn’t realise you wouldn’t be allowed to drink Pepsi / Coke. Thank goodness I’ll never be pregnant, I couldn’t cope with that!
we are allowed to have at least a can per day or something like that. Gestational diabetes runs in my family, so I have to completely cut it out
Happy Canada Day and happy baby day.
